Brawley Police Hosts Annual Horseback Ride for Autism Awareness, Joined by Local Officials
BRAWLEY, CA – April 3, 2025 – The Brawley Police Department held its annual horseback ride through town on Thursday in honor of Autism Awareness Month, uniting law enforcement, local officials, and community members to raise awareness and foster inclusivity. Before the ride, Foster’s Freeze provided free ice cream to participants.
Brawley Police Chief Jimmy Duran described the event as a success, emphasizing its positive impact on children and the community. “Everybody was able to see the effect it has on the kids. We’re doing this for a great cause, and it was a good time today,” he said.
El Centro Border Patrol Chief Gregory Bovino highlighted the ride’s role in community engagement, noting that it not only brings awareness to autism but also allows law enforcement to connect with residents on a local level. “We’re out on the streets, in the neighborhoods, and alongside community leaders. It’s a great opportunity to connect,” he said.
Jim Gonzalez from Autism Support of Imperial Valley expressed gratitude for the strong turnout, saying the presence of law enforcement and city officials meant a lot to families in attendance. “We truly appreciate it,” he added.
The event concluded around 5:30 PM, leaving a lasting impact on families and reinforcing the importance of autism awareness in the community.
